Are You Stressed Out Too Often
Consider This:

By Chris Waugh

What percentage of the time is it OK for you to be stressed out? 30%? 20%? 10%? What percent of the time do you actually feel stressed out? Is that acceptable?

Stress isn’t all bad; it has a functional purpose. If you were a caveman (or woman) stress would prepare you to fight or take flight. In short spurts, it was very handy – like if you were getting mugged for your fur coat or something, you could kick the bad guy or run like crazy.

Your mind decides if you should stress out, and your body obliges. It speeds everything up in your metabolism. Prolonged stress wears everything out in your body faster, too. So, you need stress, but not too much! And, you need a few tricks to alleviate it.

Now, let’s talk about other people. They stress out differently than you do, and when you try to work with them, new stressors develop. Politics get in the way. Some people are really difficult. Thankfully, there are techniques for coping with interpersonal difficulties too.

Chris Waugh owns reNvision, Inc., and works with business professionals who want to learn to succeed on the fly. The author of several books, including 'Flying by the Seat of Your Pants,' she blends years of business management experience with her hang glider's perspective on change.
